Well folks, I’m celebrating throughout March with the nutrition month theme Simply Cook and Enjoy! Do you want some inspiration to cook, download Dietitian of Canada’ popular free i-Phone or i-Pad app Cookspiration. Within less than two weeks of its launch Apple calls it one of their “Best New Apps” with over 35,000 downloads. It’ll be available for all platforms by mid-March and in French by April, 2014 with more recipes. Cookspiration is loaded with a wide array (over 180) of recipes with the Nutrient Info of each.

Get stocked! Keep your kitchen ready for action any night of the week with basic food staples.

It’s easier to cook when you have basic ingredients in your kitchen. Keep staple foods on hand, such as:

  • Fresh and frozen vegetables and fruit
  • Whole grains, such as quinoa, oats, brown rice and barley
  • Milk, cheese and yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Canned salmon and chunk light tuna
  • Canned or dried legumes, such as chickpeas, black beans and lentils
  • Spices, garlic, vinegars and oils

With a well-stocked pantry, fridge and freezer, you’ll be ready to cook quick meals.
