Food Revolution Green Beans & Toasted Walnuts

I can’t remember preparing green beans as a side dish before, shame on me. Maybe in another life but the memory escapes me! Indy brought home some to whip up and this is what I did. Truth be told, I looked in the fridge and pantry and thought this up in a flash. I must say this side made a fine accompaniment with our main course. Enjoy!!

Ingredients
stemmed, washed green beans
drizzle of olive oil
toasted walnuts
parmesan
salt and freshly ground pepper to your liking

Instructions
Prepare the beans and place them in a pot with a small amount of water at the bottom. Cover the pot with a lid and steam to the crispness your desire. Drain the water and put the beans in a serving boil. Drizzle with olive oil, add walnuts, parmesan and season to your liking. Combine. Can serve piping hot or room temperature.

Commentary
The next time you visit the grocery store change your gear out of automatic and choose a new veggie in order to move your cheese on the sides to please!!

Oh My! BMI & Chocolate!

I just read about a study touting that people who ate chocolate regularly had lower BMI’s. Oh my!! Just in time for Easter, hippity hop down the bunny trail.

When I think about this dynamic my thoughts settle in on our eating relationship. One that allows all food to fit. No foods that are deprived. Food balance is the key. Just think about it. When a food is forbidden we want it so much more and when we get it, often overdo it, eating it in excess. It’s the excess part that contributes to an increased BMI, that’s for sure.

If you want a bite of chocolate have it. A piece of it or two, not a meter high bunny with the big long ears. Of all of the relationships to work on (other than family) is that with your food – eat it, savor it, enjoy it, respect it and allow it. When all is said and done you won’t be driven to have psychological binge to make up for what you can’t have, because you can have it.

Get that taste out of your mouth and be done with it!

Does this Mu Mu Make Me Get Fat

I read an interesting article that confirmed what I have been proclaiming for some time now – paying attention to what you wear when you eat can affect how much you eat. Out with mu mu’s and elasticized waist bands and in with non-expando clothing with waist bands.

Who doesn’t love comfy wumfy wear? No one, that’s who! But when the dinner bell doth chime dress for eating success and ensure you have your attire affixed around you waist. As you eat and begin feeling full you will be less likely to keep eating because the food tastes so dang good.

Also, from a general sense of well being when you pay attention to what you are wearing and feel good about yourself, you are more likely to eat better and do you daily exercise routine. These 3 cornerstones of success are a positive hat trick that reinforces the other.
