What time is it? Exercise-o’clock!

November 7th, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , ,

What time is it you ask?
It’s exercise-o’clock!

Get up off the couch
And go for a wee walk

Put on music perhaps
And do a square dance

You won’t need special shoes
Or Lululemon pants!

Maybe take a few flights of stairs
To get from point “A” to “B”

Consider taking a bike ride
With your entire family

Any time is a good time
To fight inertia and get on the move

Our bodies we meant to shake and shimmy
Saunter, run, dance, so vamoose!

Tall Tree

October 24th, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , , ,

Tall tree
Are thee
Beacon for
Many

Educate
And create
Opportunity
That’s great!

Raise the bar
Up so far
Mentor to
Many stars

Extra mile
Reconcile
Boundless with
Unique style

Volunteer
So sincere
Silent soldier
No fear

Deservedly
The Tall Tree
A new day is
Earned by thee…. congratulations!

Thanksgiving Musings

October 10th, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , , , , , ,

Time for (Canadian) Thanksgiving
Are you taking time?
To ponder your many blessings
Or following through blind

Is it just a day off?
Or do you take time to dwell?
On special people around you
And the stories they tell

Do you plough through the day
Like a freight train at high speed?
Or take a few quite moments
To just stop and take heed

A deep breath is a blessing
A warm abode is too
Does this fill you with appreciation?
Or do you just sit and stew?

Do you have legs to walk with?
And eyes that gleam bright?
A heart that beats loudly
And a strong will that ignites?

If you woke up this morning
On the green side of the grass
Make the best of Thanksgiving
Help your gratitude last

Gotta go
Just to try
Beloved potatoes!

Always in style
So versatile
Enjoy any time
Conscience reconcile!

Good for you
Side dish or stew?
Vitamins & minerals
Plus fibre too!

Farmers field
A lot of yield
Have to say
Such a big deal

Hospitality
Generosity
Honest and true
From everybody

Idaho
Potato
Cherish the land
Now I know…

Any Day Musings

September 26th, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , , , ,

Time ticks on
It whizzes past
What do you do with it
To make memories last?

Days filled up with
To-do’s galore
Does it leave you feeling like
You’re longing for more?

The sparrows flutter
In the yard close by
The barn swallows lunge
Then soar to the sky

The waterfall trickles
In the Kettle Valley below
A rainbow arcs
For a wish to bestow

A friend who appreciates
A kind word and deed
Special time together
Without rush or speed

Taking stock each day
To appreciate
All the blessings we have
With priorities straight

Breaking bread together
Clinking glasses to cheer
Finding simple things to celebrate
Any time of year!

Rhyme Time Friday – Feeling Sunk?

August 22nd, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , ,

Feeling sunk?
And in a funk

Don’t despair
Life’s not alway fair

Call a friend
Don’t pretend

To take it on
Like it’ll just be gone

There are many ways
Your spirits raise

Family’s there
To help and care

Why go alone?
Pick up the phone

A ray of light
To lift your sights

Think positive
Not causitive

Flower or song
To help what’s wrong

Always look up
And get unstuck….

Shrinking Spirits

August 15th, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , , ,

Wine
May be divine
In the good ole summertime

Port
May give support
After dinner on your porch

Beer
May make you cheer
While sitting out by the pier

Alcohol
Awareness overhaul
Before it overcomes us all

Consideration
For moderation
Food for thought & contemplation

Take a sip
Between your lips
Just cut back a little bit

Who’s Retiring Anyways?

August 11th, 2014 2 Comments Tags: , , , ,

Someone I know is conspiring
That they might consider retiring
Has worked a long time
Many achievements have shined
Inspiring many behind him

He believes that anything’s possible
Stays the course, and is always unstoppable
Has made a huge mark
Is a remarkable spark
To all that are all around him

Has a way to make you get better
His approach is always unfettered
Helps you rise to new heights
Using all of your might
Never taking the credit because of him

Has learned to have his priorities straight
Which for me is absolutely great
Work/life balance is fine
Our life together is so divine
Special times just being with him

This person I know can’t retire!
Just shift gears of his inner bonfire
Not able to slow down
Always runs fully wound
Boundless energy with more ahead of him

Thoughts to Move You

August 4th, 2014 No Comments Tags: , , , ,

Climb a mountain
Walk a trail
Jump a rope
Hoist a bale

Walk a block
Ride a bike
Dance to music
Take a hike

Fly a kite
Hit a ball
Whatever you do
Just don’t stall!

Get outside
Enjoy the weather
Play some golf
From the heather

Take a swim
Have a splash
Saunter along
Or run a dash

Move your body
Do all you can
Either spontaneously
Or make a plan
